Collaborate with Me
It is my job to collaborate with you and help enrich your curriculum content and your student's learning experiences. Studies have show that.."schools tend to have better test results where teachers reported that they initiate collaboration with the library media specialist on the design and delivery of instruction at least weekly or monthly" (American Library Association). I welcome any opportunity to discuss how I might help you. Send me an e-mail at [email protected] to schedule a time to get together.
FACULTY SERVICES
The library provides services to students, faculty, and parents. The following are just a few of the services that we eagerly provide to faculty and staff:
Professional library
Happy Valley has a separate library of materials just for teachers. All materials (both in the general library and professional library) may be checked-out by faculty for 9 weeks (or more upon request). Additionally, I am always looking for new titles. If there is a book that would help you, let me know and we will see what we can do to get that book for you.
Class visits to the library
You can schedule a visit to the library. During this time I can provide your students with instruction to include a tour of the library, a lesson in library resources or technology, and help in finding information on special topics. If you are interested in scheduling a visit, please contact me via my e-mail [email protected] (e-mail link).
Visits to the classroom
You can request I visit the classroom. During this time I can provide your students with instruction to include a lesson on library services and resources, help with a research project, and instruction on technology. If you are interested in scheduling a visit, please contact me via my e-mail [email protected] (e-mail link).
Meetings (Faculty, PTA, other school functions)
I would be happy to attend faculty meetings, PTA meetings or other school functions. My participation can include presentation of library services and functions, demonstrate library resources, book talks, or talks on special library or literacy issues.
Assignment Support
I can provide support for research and technology assignments. I can help find/develop WebQuests, pathfinders, or LibGuides to meet your (and your students) needs (visit the Assignments (internal link) webpage, part of this website, for examples).
Important: I want to collaborate with you. Please don't hesitate to contact me (e-mail link) with your ideas, suggestions, or requirements. I am here to support you.
