Selecting your Research question
If you weren't given an exact research question from your instructor, deciding on your research question is very important to the success of your project. The research question (thesis or essential question) is the main idea of your research paper; it will not be a statement of fact but what you will be learning about.
It can be difficult to decide on your research question. You might want brainstorm on what you want to learn about. It is also important that your research question is not too broad or too narrow. If you have a question that is too broad you will have too much information. If your question is too narrow you will not find enough information.
The following are examples of too broad/narrow and just right research questions:
